Mirror's Edge

Last week, I got an email (sent to themixhaus@gmail.com) that said: "There's this new artist... I just discovered his stuff from Chiddy Bang. His name is XV... he's kinda like a mix of Kanye and Kid Cudi."
I went to his website, www.vizzyzone.com, and was immediately struck by this guy's talent. I'd say he's more like a mix between Kid Cudi and B.o.B. Really good stuff. The rapper's name is XV, and this song is called "Mirror's Edge." Check it out.

It's Wednesday. I've decided to put up one of my favorite songs of all time from what is easily my favorite mixtape of all time: "The Prayer" from Kid Cudi's A Kid Named Cudi. You may have this already, but if you don't, download it now. Best line: if I die today the last thing you remember won't be about some apple bottom jeans with the boots with the fur. If only Cudi could get back to this kind of music... I don't know about you guys, but I'm not a huge fan of "Erase Me." We'll have to wait until Tuesday to see what his new album, Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager, is like. Hoping for the best...

Rusko

Here's a remix of Kid Sister's "Pro Nails" by Dubstep artist Rusko. Dubstep is a genre of music with syncopated rhythms and a ton of bass. It's been gaining a lot of ground recently, so I thought I might as well post a song. It's not for everyone, however, as Dubstep is pretty much the definition of crude. This particular song is no exception, but it's pretty sick if you like Dubstep. Rusko is basically the mascot of the genre. Go ahead, give it a listen.

Monster

"Monster" by Kanye West featuring Jay-Z, Rick Ross, Bon Iver, and Nicki Minaj came out a while ago, but I just noticed something interesting in it. The song ends with Bon Iver singing the lines "I crossed the line / I'll let God decide / I wouldn't last these shows / So I am heading home"...
Anyone else find this remarkably similar to what happened last year? Kanye embarrassed Taylor Swift ("crossed the line") then canceled a forty-show tour with Lady Gaga called Fame Kills ("I wouldn't last these shows"), "heading home". The song's called "Monster"... and Lady Gaga's solo tour was named The Monster Ball. Coincidence? I think not.

I can't find the song anywhere on YouTube, and it used to be free to download as part of Kanye's "G.O.O.D. Friday" initiative... If you pre-order his new album on iTunes, though, you'll get the song immediately. Listen to Nicki Minaj's verse. It only goes to further cement her recent hailing as the first female ever to be #6 M.C. in The Game by MTV.

      Finally, after weeks of waiting, visionary hip-hop artist Kanye West debuted his epic short-film "Runaway". The film was simulcast Saturday night on MTV, MTV2, and BET. After watching it for the third time this morning, I can honestly vouch for MTV when they said that "'Runaway' solidifies Kanye West as the greatest pop star of this generation."
      "Runaway" is truly an incredible piece of art, certainly on par with Michael Jacksons's "Thriller" and Pink Floyd's "Pink Floyd The Wall," if not going above and beyond both of those in terms of aesthetic beauty. The fim centers around Mr. West finding a Phoenix-woman who has landed on Earth, taking her in and teaching her about the ways of this world, and the Phoenix rejecting this world.
      Featuring nine of Kanye's songs from his upcoming album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, along with incredible special effects, Nicki Minaj with a British accent, gorgeous sweeping camera angles and model Selita Ebanks as the Phoenix, this is not one to miss. There's a scene at a fireworks show that has Kanye's new song "All of the Lights" (which also contains vocals from eleven other big name artists, including Rihanna and John Legend) which is remarkably beautiful and musically awesome. There's also a four-minute segment in which a dozen ballerinas hold complicated positions while Mr. West performs an auto-tuned conclusion to his song "Runaway" and a crane camera performs swooping, surreal shots. The film ends with the thought-provoking and remarkable "Lost in the World", a soulful song made by Mr. West with Justin Vernon of Bon Iver (the song samples Bon Iver's "Woods"), finishing with an eerie poem about America by spoken-word poet Gil Scott-Heron.
      In my opinion, Kanye West will go down in history as one of the most important musicians of all time. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is set to be released on November 22, and you can preorder the album on iTunes here.

Kanye's Runaway

Kanye's new album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, is set to drop on November 22.

Kanye West's second single off of his fifth album, [update] officially titled My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, is called "Runaway"and features new rapper Pusha-T. You'll recall that he performed this track on the VMAs a few weeks ago and on SNL last weekend. You know how the Recording Industry Association of America has dealt with the past two Kanye songs I posted for download, so I'll just stick to this:

I found out about Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros this summer, and was instantly in awe. They're a ten person band that is slowly gaining in popularity. Their song "Janglin" was even recently featured in a Ford Fiesta ad. Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros (say that ten times fast) manage to have a 60's, hippie-esque image while maintaining a modern sound. Truly remarkable, and today I have a really cool remix of one of their best songs: "Home". Enjoy.

First of all - I know it's been a while. I've had a busy week, and I've been thinking about the Mixhaüs's future. I was lucky enough to attend The Monster Ball last night, and let me just say... I was throughly amazed. It was truly an awesome show with an incredible set (including: a subway car, a Central Park replica, a tornado, a piano that catches on fire, two skyscrapers, a piano inside of a car, and a fountain that spews blood). Did you really miss the VMAs last night? That's too bad... Here's a recap (with Videos!).
The night got off to a great start with Nicki Minaj and will.i.am performing their incredible song "Check It Out".

Eminem then started performing "Not Afraid" 
before the crowd was surprised by a visit 
from Rihanna and the duo began performing 
"Love the Way You Lie".

British group Florence + The Machine 
(KHuss's favorite) then performed 
their song "Dog Days Are Over".

Taylor Swift then sang a new song 
forgiving Kanye.

Drake, Swizz Beatz, and Mary J. Blige 
proceeded to perform a new song, "Fancy".

Kanye West rounded off the night 
with an incredible finale, 
performing his new song, "Runaway" 
with Pusha T. This is not to be confused
 with "Runaway Love". It is far superior.

All in all, it was an incredible night. 
Lady Gaga even wore a dress made of 
raw meat as she accepted the Video 
of the Year VMA for "Bad Romance"!

VMAs 2010: Tonight, 9 PM!

Be sure to tune in to MTV tonight at 9 PM... it's bound to be a great show. Performances by: J. Biebs, B.o.B, Drake, Florence + The Machine, Bruno Mars, Eminem, Lady Gaga, Kanye West, Usher, Nicki Minaj, Ke$ha, and more. Only dilemma? Tonight is also the Entourage season finale, featuring Eminem among other stars. Which to choose?! I think I'm gonna start with the VMAs, pause them for a quick break for Entourage, then go right back to MTV.

This is pretty awesome... say what you want about Justin Bieber, I don't really have anything against him personally, but I know people have vendettas against him and his music. And I get that. But tonight, I have a special Justin Bieber song for you remix fiends: "U Smile" -- 800 times slower! I know that sounds crazy, but seriously, give it a listen. Futurecop! - They're an awesome British electro band that my clutch cousin Lizzie introduced me to. The title of their debut album? The Unicorn & The Lost City Of Alvograth. Clearly they're not a mainstream band, and if you take a listen to their song "N.A.S.A.", you'll know this for sure. No words, just a truly great song. Runaway Love (DMCA TAKEDOWN EDITION)

About two weeks ago, we at the Mixhaüs heard rumors of a Justin Bieber + Kanye West + Raekwon song that was being produced. Lo and behold, today the "Runaway Love" Remix was released... and it lives up to its expectations. Pretty awesome track, Raekwon and Kanye have some solid verses and Justin maintains a Michael Jackson-esque voice.

Update: Unfortunately, the DMCA has decided to yet again take down another of my posts... So, I had to get rid of the mp3 and the download link on the post. Whatever, I downloaded it (again) from Kanye's official blog, so if you want the mp3 -- and you should want it, it's pretty sick -- , scroll down a bit, and then click "Click HERE for the mp3..".
